BUFFALO, N.Y. — Attorneys are scheduled to meet for a final time before the founder of a Muslim-oriented television station goes on trial on charges he beheaded his estranged wife inside the station's New York studios.
Defense and prosecution lawyers are expected to discuss jury selection and other housekeeping matters during a conference Tuesday in Erie County Court in Buffalo.
The second-degree murder trial for 45-year-old Muzzammil Hassan is scheduled to begin with jury selection Jan. 10.
Hassan is accused of killing Aasiya Zubair Hassan at Bridges TV in February 2009. Muzzammil Hassan had been served with divorce papers a week earlier.
The Hassans started the station with the goal of improving the image of Muslims in America after 9/11.
